UFO Local Throw and Catch Tournament and Skyhoundz Xtreme Distance Event

August 16, 2025
Russell Kahler Park
735 N Glendora Ave, Covina, CA 91724

Registration is open! We will have two different events on 8/16/25. First, a UFO Toss & Catch Local. This event will be 2 rounds of T&C only. Top 3 in Open T&C will qualify for UFO World Finals in November. The second event will be a Skyhoundz Xtreme Distance. This is the first XD event in CA! It's 90 seconds to try to make the longest catch you can. It's a fixed start, so the dog cannot cross the line before the disc, so it's different than other distance events we've had previously. Check out the rules on the Skyhoundz website (skyhoundz.com) or feel free to ask questions in the comments.

Online registration is REQUIRED and will close on Wednesday, August 13th at 12:00pm. You cannot register day of. You can pre-pay online or at registration check in at the event. We will be starting this event on time, if not a little early to try to beat the heat. Thanks!

Please see the UFO website and Skyhounz Website for division classifications, rules & guidelines.

Format - UFO Local Tournament:

Divisions: The three divisions will include Novice Throw & Catch ($5), Intermediate Throw & Catch ($7), and Open Throw & Catch ($10).

Novice Throw & Catch: Novice handlers are considered to be those people that are competing in their first year. Novice is NOT for experienced handlers playing with new dogs. If that is you, enter a higher division. The novice division includes two rounds of Throw & Catch.

Intermediate Throw & Catch: The Intermediate Throw & Catch division is for experienced handlers and includes two rounds of Throw & Catch.

Open Throw & Catch: The Open Throw & Catch division is for experienced handlers and includes two rounds of Throw & Catch. The Open Throw & Catch division is a qualifier for the UFO World Cup Throw & Catch Championship.

Throw & Catch Scoring: The scoring zones will be at the 15, 25, & 35 meter lines, plus the 35 meter bonus zone with awarded points being 1, 2, 3 & 4 respectfully. The time limit will be 60 seconds using a single disc.

Handlers with multiple dogs: Handlers must enter all dogs in the same level of competition. For example, a Novice competitor must enter all dogs in Novice Throw & Catch. An Intermediate competitor must enter all dogs in the Intermediate Throw & Catch and Intermediate Freestyle divisions. An Open competitor must enter all dogs in the Open Throw & Catch and Open Combined divisions.
